Medical Records, Coder

Position Summary Requirements: The Coder is responsible for all coding and abstracting of the medical records.  To code hospital records for the purpose of reimbursement, research, and compliance with federal and state regulations according to diagnoses/symptoms and procedures using ICD9-CM and CPT4 coding classification systems; and accurately assign DRG and APC as appropriate.  Strictly adheres to hospital and department confidentiality policies at all times. Graduate from high school or equivalent preferred with education in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.  Instruction and/or experience in ICD9-CM and CPT4 are mandatory.  Computer coures desired.

One to two years experience in coding medical reports.  Hospital base preferred.  Experience with 3M encoder helpful. RHIA, RHIT, or CCS preferred
