AMH Receives Patient Satisfaction Awards from Avatar Solutions

Avatar Solutions, a leading provider of Patient, Hospital Care Quality Information from the Consumer Perspective (HCAHPS), Employee, and Physician Surveys based in Lake Mary, Florida, announced April 3, 2013, its 2012 award-winning hospital partners. Alleghany Memorial Hospital is being awarded the following honors in the Critical Access/Specialty Hospital Category:

• Most Improved -  “Willing to Recommend

• Most Improved -  “Overall Rating

• Most Improved - “Responsiveness of Hospital

“It is very exciting to have Avatar recognize the hospital and its healthcare team of employees and physicians, for their diligent work in ensuring that the patient care experience is top notch and exceeding expectations,” says Wendy Orton, Chief Nursing Officer of AMH. “We recognize that every patient, family, or visitor experience ‘counts,’” she adds, “and AMH is committed to striving for continued excellence for the people we serve.”

Avatar Solutions’ awards are meant to honor significant accomplishments in patient satisfaction and innovation in healthcare settings. These awards are given to facilities that have demonstrated the most improvement for each HCAHPS survey composite in each bed size category. All hospitals who administered the HCAHPS survey for twenty four consecutive months, through December of the prior year, are eligible.

AMH administers the HCAHPS survey, via mail, to a random sample of adult inpatients between 48 hours and six weeks after discharge, via AVATAR, a CMS approved vendor, who in turn collects and processes the data abstraction. The return rate for AMH runs between 25-30%, well in-line with national averages.
